Stitches left in

I had a hen get attacked by a grey fox and it had a 3” long 1/2” wide gash on her chest. I gave her anti biotics and sprayed blue knot on her then stitched her up. I had to leave out of town for 2 weeks and when i came back she was fully healed and acting like nothing happened.

The problem is when i went to take the stitches out i couldnt pull them out since the skin had healed to much by then.

Is there any downside from leaving them in and will it affect her in the future?

If they are absorbable suture material they will eventually just fall out on their own. If not, they should be removed. what did you use to sew her up? You could check with the vet to find out what they recommend.
