Stock Tank For Pond / Clipping Wings

Hello everyone,
I've been a long-time lurker here but finally broke down and joined so I could ask a few questions.

My wife and I would like to purchase a large stock tank for our birds to use as a pond. Do I need to add a ramp on the inside of the tank so they can just walk in/out? We planned on having a ramp lead up to the tank, just not one on the inside. Right now they just belly flop over the edge of our kiddie pool we're using, but the tank will be a little higher and I wouldn't want them getting hurt.

Also, we're currently using a electric poultry net fence to keep them in our yard but when they feel adventurous they just fly right over and go exploring. We plan to clip their wings but I was curious if that'll keep them from getting in/out of the tank properly? I've also heard mixed reviews on clipping 1 wing VS both wings. Any opinions on that?

I have a ramp on the outside of our pool and a set of pet steps on the inside. The steps take up less room. They don't need all of the steps, just the top two.

Clipping wings, I cannot help you with as I have never done it.

I have muscovies and clipped one wing. If they can clear a poultry fence, they can still do it with clipped wings. Mainly they are jumping.
The one wing allows them to be able to glide back down rather than just flop - if I rember correctly.
What type of ducks do you have? How old? Most domestic ducks do not fly like our wild duck friends.

I have 2 khakis, 3 buffs, and a Pekin we recently rescued from Craigslist. The khakis and the buffs are the ones clearing the fence.

Edit: I've heard of people attaching string to poles/beams around their enclosure to create a sort of web that keeps predators from flying inside, and logically it'd also keep the ducks from flying out. I'll probably give that a go.

@PeggiB Thank you for the steps link, that's much better than what I was thinking.

I have aviary netting over my run. It keeps my birds from hopping out and flying.
Technically your ducks don't "fly", but I know what you mean. And those chubby pekins. :D
