We have had multiple issues with our horses. Unfortunately, one side of our property faces a house that is usually rented out to city people. Sometimes, they have good intentions, but the are completely CLUELESS!!
This one lady kept trying to feed the horses garbage. She threw moldy straw bales into the pasture after halloween along with several moldy tomatoes. Luckily the horse did not touch either, but my dad went and talked to the lady right away. She felt horrible afterwards and sent an apology letter, but I just don't understand why you would try to feed an animal that garbage! I don't even give other people's dogs treats unless they give me permission!
Another time we had this family move in two doors down with a young boy and girl. The girl kept coming over when my dad and I would ride int he upper field. A few times she even came in the arena! Both of them would hang on the fence as well! I can't tell you how many times I yelled at them! My dad always told them they could come knock on our door one day and we would let them see the animals, but they had to wait until it was a good time for us and their mom had to give them permission. It got to the point where these kids were always pestering us about seeing the animals! A few times I even caught them in the field with the horses trying to pet them! I screamed out the back door and they ran, but I told my dad we needed to speak to the parents. Before we got a chance to, they moved and we have not had a problem like that since.
However, we did have some guy playing fetch with his dog on our one field closest to the street. My dad spoke to him right away and said it was private property.
I think that has been it, but people can be so annoying. We also have a protective dog and while I doubt he would bite someone, he does bark and run up to people who come on the property when we are not around to contain him. My dad has hung up no trespassing signs AND beware of dog signs. So far, they have seemed to work. We don't get unwanted salespeople any more.
