Stop turner early or late?

I’m going to be unavoidably away on day 14 of my coturnix egg incubation. So they either have to stop on day 13 or day 15. I used to stop the incubator on day 15 anyway, but now have access to all of you as a resource!

Which do you advise, day 13 or day 15 for stopping the turning cradle?

Stopping the turner on day 13 will be fine. They have enough movement on their own that it is fine to stop it early.

I put mine in, and stop turning on day 15. Some people start at day 0 some at day one, but I believe it was @Fenrisulfr that said to start lockdown the same day of the week you set them. So depending on where you start counting, if you set them on Monday and you will be away 2 Monday’s from then, stop it Sunday as late as you can.

I don't really think it matters that much. I don't think their parents would contemplate this in the wild.

Well in the end it looks like we’ll be here on day 14 after all, as there is now wildfire activity where we needed to be. Looking forward to new babies on Tuesday then! Thanks much for the advice.

Well, that solves your dilema! Not so good to here about fires though.
