It was not Mareks because he was vaccinated, I do believe it pertains more to tuna cans like I said. Galvanized is most likely okay because I havent heard any negative effects from it. Once of the problems is that if it is not galvanized it may begin to rust and problems will start there.

This study says nothing of blindness. It is the same argument against BPA that has been kicked around for years. I'm not buying this either (no offense meant to the OP).

You understand the process of Galvanization includes a coating of zinc right?

Yes, but the process does not allow oxidation as in the aluminum containers that also have zinc.

If you google the galvanization process, you will learn more that you would ever want too.

However, a rusting galvanized container can leach zinc, it is being oxidized.

So it's the rust?

Then aluminum is good right?

Sorry I don't mean to come off like a butthead, but you're argument is falling apart quickly.

Furthermore this study about BPA in cans while interesting has some holes in this particular case as well. I'd wager that the only reason these foods absorbed so much BPA was due to the duration of exposure. So unless you are doing long term food storage in tuna cans I just don't see your chickens being exposed to all that much BPA.

So, it seems that the study in question is just referring to the BPA which lines some food cans (not all) and has been shown to be a carcinogen. It has also been found in plastic sippy cups and water bottles. It has nothing to do with the metal or "metal flakes." I did not see anything in the article about blindness or chickens.

Bingo! We have a winner.

Sorry, but after reading this thread this 'argument' has little factual basis. Metal has been used for generations before plastic even came about.
