Hi there,

Had my two Isa Brown's for around a year but they've recently stopped laying many eggs. Only getting 3 or 4 a week now ?

Not sure what's happened I gave them a wormer in there water, some dust mite powder and a dunk in water.

Not sure why the eggs dropped off so much.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

They are a year old or have been laying for a year?
What are they eating?
Any recent stressors? Predator attack, heat, changes in housing, etc..
Did they have worms and mites or were those randomly precautionary?

They have been laying for around a year , no real big changes. The worming and mite powder just precautionary. Food just the golden yolk pellets. I did try changing to a more expensive food with grains no change.

See any extra feathers laying around? They may be near the end of this laying cycle and getting ready to molt.
What is the protein % of the yolk pellets? Any scratch or kitchen scraps in the diet?

what is the recommended protein percent for laying birds?

16-17% but if other things are fed, that will lower the %. Crude protein is listed on the bag of feed, however it gets a little more complicated. I believe chickens have 11 or 12 amino acids that are essential in their diet.

I think it's 15% the golden yolk barastoc pellets. Yes certainly a few feathers around.

I hope you figure out what the problems is and get them back to egg laying...if that's possible.
Good luck!

15 is a little low to expect pumping out an egg a day containing 6 grams of protein.
