Stopping prolapse

That is great to hear, and you’re welcome. Prolapse can happen again in the future. Stopping her from laying temporarily may aid in healing from this one. Once they stop laying, it can take around 2 weeks to start laying again. So, she shouldn’t have to stay in darkness for too long. Make sure that she is getting a calcium supplement in having some crushed oyster shell available, and layer feed as her usual feed. Calcium deficiency can be one of the causes for prolapse. Good luck.

What I have read is to keep them in the dark overnight for at least 16 hours a day, then let them in daylight for the remaining 8 hours a day to eat and walk around. It takes about 3 days or so.
Hello well I did the three day darkness let her out to eat and put her back in the small pin in darkness. All was well so I put her back in with the group of chickens she did well for a couple of days went out this morning and she's prolapsing again. Do you think I should start the darkness over again maybe go a little longer. Just a little confused at this point maybe you have an answer thank you for your time you've been great.

It might help to resume the darkness routine again for a couple more days. I really hope this helps.
I'm happy to say she's doing well no prolapse for three days we just hope that it continues . I do believe that the preparation H helped tremendously in this prolapse concern. Again thank you for hanging in there with me on this concern you have been great I think we both learned a little something out of this don't you think.

Well we are back to day one she prolapsed once again I was able to get it back in at this point. Do you have any suggestions if it keeps happening what do you do I know I've asked you that before but the next step will be putting her down if it does not stop in before I do that I just want to be sure I have done everything to help her . Again you've been great thank you. I may go ahead and post this and see if anybody else may have a final suggestion.
