storage solutions?

I have learned the hard way to always use the metal cans. Squirrels and rodents always eat big holes in anything else. It does not take but ONE small seed of corn accidentally dropped into a plastic bin ( in which you are not storing anything else they would want to eat) and then - bingo-you find a big ole chewed out one morning. It absolutely does NOT matter how thick the plastic or resin is - Squirrels are monsters.
my plan is (but you know how that goes! lol) to use the metal can and keep it inside the porch area, so it will be protected from the hot GA sun and the resin deck box for the bedding, and toys and things that aren't perishable, cleaning supplies brushes boots, stuff like that. I do like the idea of the smaller can too for the grit and stuff. so...hmm...

That might work...with a metal can inside for feed.
My coop is part of a very large shed, so lots of room to store stuff.
I keep my feed in a 30gallon garbage can to deter rodents

I know this is an older post but I love this idea. I tried to do it but my feed bags are too big. What size feed bags are you buying/using?

Yes, it's very hard to drop a whole new bag in there,
plus I can't hardly lift a full bag of feed.
They are 50# bags in a 30gal garbage can....but!
I have 2 feed bags with tops folded over that stay in the can,
then I scoop and pour the new feed into those.
I empty all the 'old' feed into a bucket before adding new feed.

Yes, yesterday I was trying to fit both bags in... But they are so big and heavy- it was not easy and didn't end up fitting. Maybe I'll try starting with empty bags in the can first! :)
