Store bought eggs hatch along anyone? I'm buying regular organic.

95 won't kill the eggs but it isn't good for them either. Any weaker embryos will die and any that do survive could be very late and most likely weak and small

2 weeks down, one to go. The chicks seem smaller but moving - I don't know what they should look like at this age. But on Thursday or Friday they go into lockdown.

Good luck. Keep,us posted. I still have to candle my batch in there due in less than 2 weeks. I am hoping to get to that tonight or tomorrow night. Whenever I do I will let ya all know the results.

I HATE CANDLING!

I just candled some more eggs to see if there was any change from the last discouraging look I took. But you want to know something? I have no idea what the heck I am looking at! Maybe its because my tiny flashlight with a toilet paper roll bigger than it, taped precariously over it, is no good. Or maybe I have not much to look at? Or maybe, I just have no idea what I am doing!

In some eggs there is a large dark mass, takes up about 1/3 of the egg. But from what I've read, at this stage, it should take up more than that. In some eggs it is so dark I can't see anything, but there is about 1/4 of the egg that is clear. I turn the egg, the dark part of the egg just stays put. I SEE NO MOVEMENT. Some of the eggs feel heavier than the others. They all seem different though!

I wish so much I knew an expert that could come over here and look at my eggs and tell me what I am looking at. This is the worst. I am just sick not knowing wether or not I have screwed them all up. I have to wait 6 days to hatch day, and they may not even hatch. I will be so incredibly disapointed.

Ok... You re all going to think am a nutcase but here is one last update on my eggs before they hatch...
They are so totally fine. Ya. I know. I just ranted like crazy. Heres what just happened- looked at the candling pictures again and realized I have been putting the tip of the eggs in the toilet paper tube rather than holding them on their sides. So I tell dh to look at the pics, and look at some eggs while I candle to get a fresh eye. On their sides, like in the pics, they look just like the eggs in the pictures! Dh agreed.
So I am going to leave those poor eggs alone and be at peace now.
I think almost all, if not all, of my store bought eggs have chicks in them. :)

I was just like you when I started incubating, but once you really know what to look for it is easy, and a person can candle fast. When I candle now I leave the eggs in the trays to candle. It only takes a couple seconds each egg, unless it is a questionable one.

So I just candled and this batch there were more early quitters with a couple of stinkers in there. I still have 76 out of 96 in there so it coule still be a decent hatch. I am hoping for a couple little brown ones. They are the only ones I will keep out of this hatch. Happy hatching all!

I am glad that the candling learning curve is normal and im not just stupid lol.

Hey everyone, tomorrow is lockdown day for me! I have read what that entails, but I would love it if someone could give me a check list or something to make sure I am not missing something.
