Store bought eggs hatch along anyone? I'm buying regular organic.

Humidity, patience! Don't open the bator unless you have to and if you do mist the eggs. Be ready to help chicks if you have to. Get your brooder ready. And ummmm...... I know I am forgetting stuff here. Have a way to add water to the bator without opening it, and as I said before patience, patience, patience!

Oh yeah and pray for there not to be a powere failure!

Good luck and happy hatching!

Thanks!
And one other thing- One of my eggs just chirped at me!! Does that mean I could have a chick tomorrow?!
I heard the little peep and the first thing I thought was, "hmmmm. My nose just made a weird noise... THAT WASN'T MY NOSE!"
Hahaha it was just so unexpected!

Now I am kind of worried..l should I take them off the turner tonight? Don't want a potential chick to get potentially crushed by the turner.

I usually candle the eggs when I put them into lockdown. I mark any eggs that are questionable and toss any that have definitely quit. I have had chicks hatch from marked eggs. Keep the temp 99 to 100 degrees and bump up the humidity. (I bump my humidity up to 70% to 75%) I rarely have any shrinkwrapping. Then I wait... Good luck and have fun...

That's too cute! I would put them in lock down now. It may be any time now. My experience is within 24 hours of chirping they will START hatching.

If you heard a peep, that means the chick has pipped internally and it shouldn't be long before it starts to pip externally. I remember the first time it happened to me. I thought I was imagining it.

I set my eggs on the 10th, when do I put them in lockdown? They seem a little slow in developing. I did see some movement tonight but the eggs were not full like they should be. They look almost a week late. I have Trader Joe eggs that I brought back with me, 1500 miles, while on vacation. They were in a cooler 6 days. What do you think?

A little more info - the temp has been at 98 to 100 the whole time no ups or downs except to candle 3 times. I don't have a way to check the humidity but my other hatches came out good. The humidity in the house has been high so I didn't worry about it ( 50, 70, or more). The air sacks look good from what I can tell. They just look slow. I was going to put them in lockdown tomorrow but I think I might wait until Saturday to do it.

I thought most of mine look slow too! From the pictures I've seen anyway. That one egg peeped which is the only reason I put them in lockdown. Nothing yet though, no wiggling and no more peeping. I hope I did the right thing with lockdown.

The other thing was that putting them into lockdown was tricky for me. More learning curve I suppose. I took a while getting them all out of the turner and I accidentally turned off the bator instead of the turner! It took about 30 min to get back up to temp so I really hope I didn't mess anything up.
What did I do- I didnt really answer your question because I just don't know when to lock them down when they seem behind. If they seemed normal yesterday would have been lock down for you too since we set the same day.
