Store bought eggs hatch along anyone? I'm buying regular organic.

Day 23 and I've got a store bought chick!!
It's still very wet but it appears to be some sort of production red. I will post pictures soon.
I'm hoping for more!

I love these kinds of hatches! I've got 2 eggs (originally 10 but only 2 made it this far) that I bought from a farmers market under a broody. I'm on day 13. Can't wait to see what I get!

Day 23 for me too. 7 chicks and an egg with a Pip in it. This is going to be a long drawn out hatch.

I guess it was 76 left when I candled. I just candled and put mine into lockdown. 72 of the 76 are left now. Only lost 4 since day 10 candling. Hatch day is Friday!

6 of the 12 eggs hatched by this morning! I bought eggs on byc and these eggs actually did better!
These chicks are giant too! Some are all white, some are white with one or two black spots. They are from brown eggs. Any ideas? I will post pictures soon!!

Sounds like they are a 2nd generation red sex link. From what I have heard white isn't uncommon to get from these 2nd gen crosses. Fredshens has done this. I will find the link for ya.

Here is a couple pics of the chicks. 2 are white with black spots and 3 are all white. In the second picture notice that chicks leg. The leg is always splayed out like that. Anyway to fix it? The chick eats and drinks and runs around, healthy seeming, it's just sort of crippled. They are on pine shavings. I would have had 6 chicks but one was working on its zip when I left the house for a 4th of July thing, and when I came back it had zipped the egg and was dead. sad I wasn't here to help.

Look up splay leg. If you get to it right away you can fix it with a band aid but it will stiffen up if you wait too long.
