I didn't see any other threads like this so I decided to start one!

Post stories/a story about a pet chicken that you own or owned in the past.
It can be an outdoor chicken or an indoor one.
No judgement here!

I'll start!
In 2015 we had gotten a few baby chicks to increase our flock but we lost quite a few of them until we were down to 2. One was a red bantam cochin and the other was a black bantam frizzle. Once we lost the frizzle, the young red cochin pullet started living in a brooder made from a rabbit cage and it was placed in my room. From morning until dusk, she would be outside free ranging. Once night fell, she would be brought indoors to sleep in her brooder cage. After a while, she had imprinted on me and began to follow me outside whenever I went out to feed the older hens. This was around the time I picked a name for her and she was finally called 'Rusty' due to her coloring looking like rust.
She had become a little feathery buddy for me and had helped me a great deal with my anxiety.
In late spring 2016 one morning around 4am while my dad got ready for work, I had woken up to see a white spider dangling down from the top bunk bed. Now please understand that even when I was 18, I was still scared of spiders and still am. Rusty knew something was wrong and began clucking as loud as she could to alert someone. Luckily that someone was my dad who came to my "rescue" and took care of the spider.
She continued being a great pet hen until the middle of summer in 2016, when she was accidentally killed by our hyperactive male dog Mooshu. I didn't get angry at all when I had run out to see what he had done. I stayed by her side until she took her last breath. It was the hardest moment of my life but I stayed strong while keeping he calm while she was in her last moments of her short life. Mooshu has since become a good protector of our birds and even when they're free ranging, he'll stay away from them.
Rusty will always be my favorite hen. No matter how many more chickens we buy, she'll always have that special place in my heart.

All my chickens are pets (outdoors),but some I’ve managed to make for the perfect lap pet.
I have two birds in mind that I favorited out of th whole flock.
One being a young rooster named Zeus,I bought form Tsc along with another chick who too also was super friendly.I bought both in thin ice as I didn’t have the space and didn’t live with my flock, and only ever got to see them on school breaks, and weekends. So I bought these birds at MY LOCAL tsc and they had to live in the restroom. After some days I was able to take them to my grandparents house where the rest of the flock was.I already had bought chicks so these two had a whole flock waiting on them. The chicks were nervous at first and the second chick had already imprinted on me and several attempts to get out the cage.As time passed Zeus defiantly warmed up to me and as well his sister, there even treated each other like relatives as I never seen them breed nor have I seen him court her.She was the more so aggressive one, she would at times peck and fight my hand, but still enjoyed being petted and talked too,Zeus was a subordinate rooster and after time him and the other rooster he grew up with faded apart and things started getting physical. There were three roosters,Top man, the rooster Zeus grew up with, and Zeus.I use toe bring Zeus inside the house so he could crow,he wouldn’t crow as along as the other males were insight or he could hear them,h eWorld only crow in my lap inside the house. He continue to make a great friend and adventually even became head hauncho of the entire flock, unforutently I had to get rid of my first flock so he’s now gone.
