What are some containers you folks use to store your food in? I am gonna have 10-12 chickens, bantams, and I dont want to take a bunch of floor space from them. For the chopped corn and crumbles, what works best?

I've used Rubbermaid totes and 5gal buckets w/ the screw-on type lids in the past. Right now I have it in a 55gal plastic barrel because that's the way it comes from my local feed mill.

I have a whole room for chicken equipment, nice and cool and dry. . .

The hen's food is all poured into a metal trash can.

The chick food is also poured into a separate trash can.

The non-perishable type hen treats is in another metal trash can.

And the scratch is in its own bag. . . I rarely use it anyway.

I use a large plastic trash can and it will hold a 50 lb bag of layer and a 50 lb bag of scratch. I leave the feed in the bags and always roll the top of the bags down to keep the feed fresher longer. Of course, my flock goes through their feed in a timely manner so it going stale isn't an issue.

ok, thanks guys

I tried a plastic trash can since I could not find a metal one with a tight fitting lid. Mice chewed through it. Lowe's finally got in some metal trash cans with tight fitting lids, so that is what I use.
