Hope this isn't too obnoxious a question, but did I read somewhere that while you are gathering eggs to incubate you can store them in an automatic turner so you don't have to turn them by hand everyday?

Thank you. I usually let my hens do the work but a friend lent me an incubator and I thought I'd try it out.

Does the incubator have a way to use the turner without the heat? If so, then yes, you could do this. You want to store the eggs around 40-60 degrees F with moderate humidity, like in a basement.

So I don't want to set the turner out on something and just use it outside the incubator?

Oh wow I guess i did not discover something! I have the hovabotor egg turner and I use it while no eggs are in the bator to store and turn so i dont have to cause I am the worse at remembering to turn my eggs and trying to remember if i did and how many times, etc. lol I was gonna share with yall but kept forgetting! But Yes I use it and for ever will!

Hovabator 1602n. Borrowed from a friend. Never used one before.
Most the older foamies had a separate cord for the turner.
Most folks just put hatching eggs in a carton and tip them side to side once a day.

Test your thermometers and hygrometers before every hatch,
especially if using an older incubator of unknown history.
