Storing feed

I store my feed in galvanized garbage cans I just read some where not to store food in metal Are these cans safe or not.

I think they say not to store in metal because metal can rust. Also the feed will get hotter in a metal can. That's the only reasons I can think of?

I store my feeds in galvanized cans, too. I don't have rust probs because they are on the porch out of the real weather. I wouldn't use anything else as vermin can be a major problem.

My coop is divided into parts half for the chickens and half for storage the cans are well protected. I think I will be OK
