I think I told you guys about getting Lola back as she turned out to be a he, Mr Lola. Well, seems Lola was carried every where by his little girl when he was out of the coop/run. So, he's very people friendly. So much so that since he's still inside cause of an ouchie on his beak that the past few mornings I've been finding him coming into my bedroom. He also gets out of his area to follow me around a bit & just hang out. Either I've got a poop clean up crew (the pups) or he's not pooping outside of the chicken area I set up. Here's the biggest problem for him being inside (apart from I really don't like the coop mess) he is freakin loud for a tiny boy. It's just the early morning, like 5am early. He sounds off every minute for a bit then longer between. He'll sound off when I go outside & at other times during the day. For the most part is the **** early am crows that kill. They're all loud. lol
His ouchie is getting better. The ugly bump/scab thing came off. I want to be sure he's fully healed before I put him outside. There'll be the order picking on him, apart from just the boys being boys junk. I don't him to have a spot that they can take advantage of....if that makes sense.
I swear with how he is so far, he might be trainable. He'd certainly make a good house bird if he'd learn a 'quiet' command. Or if a crow collar would work. I didn't get a pic, but yesterday he took a nap on a dog pillow. Just made himself all comfy in the middle of it. My dogs just let him be.
I did have a touch of drama though....not with Mr Lola, but Ducky & Goldie. I opened the dog door (not a door, but a towel over the opening) & had the porch light on so the birds weren't fully settled I guess. Next thing I know I have 2 birds coming thru the door. Go to get them separated & the dogs joined in the chase....just because it was inside. That's due to when Red attacked my chi & told my dane to get so he started chasing the roo and the other 2 joined. Anyway...Ducky ended up going into the garage! I had the door open from getting scratch & starting to get the dogs' food. I got Goldie outside. Had to do a mini chase, climbing over & around all the crap in the garage to get Ducky. Unfortunately the only way I got his little bantam cochin butt was by the tail feathers. OMG...he cried bloody murder. None of them pulled out, no blood, & as soon as I could I released. I felt so bad. My poor baby was looking at me like I was the worse evil in the world. I think he's over it, thankfully. He's still a bit more aloof today. I know if I hadn't of grabbed him that way I probably wouldn't have gotten him. Leaving him on his own to come out might've been hours. I'm in the desert, my garage is hot generally. Maybe I need to get a net.
Hope you all are doing well.
