Johnathan leaned up against the alleyway wall at the "base", absentmindedly tossing a tattered tennis ball against the opposite wall. His eyes were drooping with boredom, so much that he didn't realize he threw the ball far too hard. He had no time to catch it before it hit him straight on the forehead. With a yelp of pain, he clutched at the spot and tried to rub the pain away. The ball bounced away from him towards the assortment of mattresses, but he didn't bother going after it since he lost all interest in the thing.

A giggle bounced off the walls, just like the tennis ball had bounced off Johnathan's head. "Are you alright?" Annie asked, watching through the diming shadows from her spot in the corner.

"No!" He said in an angry tone as he continued to rub his forehead. As quickly as he had said them the words replayed in his mind and he sighed. "Er, sorry 'bout that, just a bit grumpy t'day. Didn't get much sleep last night. And I'm fine, thanks." Johnathan replied in a much more polite tone.
