On there way back, Cassie asked, "Were you like this before the plane crashed? You and Mai I mean."

Blake was watching Mai from his spot at the base of a hollowed out oak tree. "Thats a nice arrow!" he called out.

"No, in between college i would take her on day trips. Places like amusement parks, plays, shopping at this little town. She loved it. It made up for all the times i was in college. Every summer i would take her on a small cruise. it didnt cost much." Bai said remembering.

Mai looked down at Blake, surprised at his compliment. "Thanks" she said half heartedly, assuming he was just being nice. She took another one and carved her initials. She shot it again hitting the same tree, just a little off from the other arrow. "Yes, definitely this wood" she muttered.

 

[Toro]

Cassie nodded. "Yet she thinks you don't love her??"


Blake was genuinly interested. "You know, I used to own an archery shop. What kind of wood are those? They seem very nice quality."

 

[jallny]

Bai shrugged. "she is very stressed out. when she is like that, she tries new things, so to speak. In this case, it is archery."

Mai looked down at Blake. "Really?" she mumbled. She hopped down to a lower branch. "I have no idea what kind of tree this is." she said patting the trunk of the tree. "It is very good. I have tested a few kinds of wood, but this is the best."

 

[TechnoCat]

"That's redwood. Most commonly used to build recurve bows." Jaiquill appeared from the shadows, her compound bow in her hands, quiver slung on her shoulder, 12 arrows in it.

Mai looked up, surprised. "Oh, uh, hi?" She was slightly intimidated by her knowledge. Mai had barely learned archery. She had been rather good, but didnt have this woman's knowledge.

 

[Toro]

Blake seemed surprised when Jaquill appeared out of the shadows. He had no idea she was standing there. "You sound like you know a lot about archery. Mai your a very good shoot by the way. Maybe once we get off this island you two could work in my shop."

"Maybe Blake could talk to her. From what I know about him, he is good at calming people down and persueding them." Cassie said a little doubtfully.

Mai perked up. "I'd love that, oh, but my sister wouldnt. She can be controlling. Thanks for the offer though." Mai said sadly.

Bai looked at Cassie. "Unless he wants an arrow through his head, he shouldnt talk to her"

 

[Toro]

That made Cassie laugh a bit. "Oh well." she said resigned

Blake looked up at her and said, "Well I see what we can do about your sister. So what do you say?" he smiled up at her.

Mai looked at him and thought. This would be the perfect opportunity to show her sister that she could handle herself. She smiled mischievously, "OK" she said. "That sounds fun"
