Strange behavior...kinda worried

But....but I'm the mama, not the mate! Man...I dunno how I'm gonna deal with this until my other duckling gets old enough 5-6 months from now. And that's IF it's a female (fingers crossed!)

My youngest (very imprinted) female Cayuga assumes the "mating position" for me sometimes when I put her in her tub to swim. I find that a little disturbing as well. ;)

Just came back from the vet, we did a sinus flush and a culture. Turns out a LOT of nasty gunk got flushed out, so the vet suspects he's had a relapse of the sinus infection he had when he was younger. Hopefully the results will come back soon!

Oh that doesn't sound good????

No, but it was a blessing in disguise, at the very least. You guys were right, it IS mating behavior...just an hour ago Wobs began bobbing his head at me, then began biting my foot and tapping his feet like he was....well, you know. So I'm still glad we took him in since he had that latent URI, but I'm still concerned how we're gonna get through this.

I know him being in season is temporary, but it'll be months before our other duck is old enough for these shenanigans. Do any of you guys know of affordable decoys or duck plushes that he could vent his frustrations on, so to speak, so he won't attack myself or my husband anymore?

Wow. Here we are, considering a party doll for Wobs.

Ya just never know...

Well, no matter how interesting any of the other forums I belong to get, I don't think they'll ever be able to top that LOL

So glad Wobbles is ok @Amykins and thanks for sharing the video - I like to know what type of things to look out for (and not make a flying dash to the vet, elbowing everyone out of the way because my boy is dying, only to find out he just loves me - because that's exactly what would happen to me!

Well, MAYBE if their mating behavior didn't look so much like a painful coughing fit I wouldn't have to worry so much! They sure didn't teach us this stuff in the vet clinic

Okay, we got him a nice, sturdy duck-shaped dog toy. Only time will tell if he'll take the bait or not.

That is hilarious! Hehe! The pictures running through my head..... Lol!

When my dog was a puppy he used to drag this giant teddy out, 3 times as big as him, into the living room when we had company. He's position it all perfectly, then look everyone right in the eye while he, erm, well, you know... I'm now picturing Wobs doing the same thing! Ha!

I know it'll take time for him to adjust, but so far we're not having much luck...he thinks of it as competition and has been beating the snot out of it all day. The toy itself is licensed by Duck Dynasty, so I consider it subconscious retribution for the slaughtering of his people! :p
