I agree with someone who said question the cat. Cat probably followed into the coop, found the thing and been playing with it a day or two. Then blamed it on the rooster!

This tops high on my list of strangest things I've ever seen... I came upon what I thought was a deflated water balloon on my back deck...and no idea where it came from... Nope, it has a yoke inside! My hens are all in the coop! The only chicken loose is the rooster! Is Zorro half Zoey?

Where in the country do you live? I live in Hawai’i and we have Jackson chameleons who lay eggs like that’s one. The “shell” is like leather. Could it be from a reptile?
