Hi,
One of my two year old hens who has always been healthy suddenly went very quiet and off her food. She was happily foraging around the garden with the rest of the flock and the next day I noticed that she remained perched in the coop all alone. She seemed a bit jumpy and she wouldn't move around much when I encouraged her out. She also walked in circles but I didn't notice her do it again. She started to look droopy with her head tucked into her shoulders and closing her eyes. She refused all food and water. A day later she seemed to be tilting her neck to the side but very slightly. This then got worse and her neck is now twisted downwards. There are no other clinical symptoms; no swelling to her comb or wattles (which look a healthy red colour), her eyes are clear and no nasal discharge. She does seem a bit stiff on her feet. She now sits with her head twisted and resting on the floor pointing in front of her. This hen should be in lay by now but her pelvic bones are very closed.
Does anyone have any idea of what this could be please? I feel she is going to die. I started antibiotic treatment because I thought she might have the start of mycoplasma which we had in the flock before and another hen has it a present.
I am at a loss.
Thanks
KrisLW
