Strange duck appeared

This morning I was greeted by my ducks, but this time they showed up with friends…

Are these hybrid ducks or some variety I’m not familiar with? I only keep Muscovy so my knowledge of other varieties is limited. I couldn’t find many images that looked close. I figured maybe a mallard / khaki hybrid. They’re smaller than Muscovy.

They are beautiful! Someone probably saw you keep ducks I and decided you needed more. in other words decided to dump them on you. Are you going to keep them? They sure do need a home.

Honestly, I didn’t even consider that… you could very well be right.

This morning they returned after flying off out of sight yesterday. They are very skittish of me, but since my ducks aren’t they are staying closer today.

I may see if they can be caught tonight and I could probably re-home them. I actually have a very hard time containing ducks lol so far my turkeys and geese respect fences more. Three ducks is plenty haha

In my experience, Mallard-like x Khaki produces Mallard-like babies, so.. probably not that.

I’d guess either some chocolate girls who’re getting their white feathers molting in, or some other unknown mixed breed.

Majority of the time its because its an unwanted male or it has some sort of disease, I highly recommend you don't keep that duck unless you do some checks on it.

They would only need to be kept in quarantine for a few weeks to determine the health of the ducks. But since they have already mingled with yours there isn’t any reason now.

if it already mingled and that duck seemed to have a disease then that would very tragic.. Lets hope that duck didn't bring anything in

How many are there? just two? if its more than 3 then it might be an infected flock somebody dumped on your land.

Also, I believe you have a Ruddy Shelduck from some image comparisons, its the closest I can find
