Strange egg laying going on

I feed them once daily
They should both have feed available every hour they are awake, especially the chick.

and with it being 30% protein that's really good.
Good for some birds, too much protein for chickens.

I'd suggest an all flock type feed(18-20% protein and ~1% calcium),
both can eat it all day long.
Of course with OS available all the time for the layer.

Thanks, @aart for responding.

I thought that game starter was too high for chickens, but I am not an expert, so I didn't respond. I should use that for Guinea keets though, right?

I give them enough food and water for the day. They have never been without food.

Interesting, I have read and watched a number of videos where people have said that the typical 18%-20% that comes in most feed is the min and that they actually need more than that min. Which is why I looked for higher protein feed.

The protein levels in the feed at the store will generally be fine, as measured by whether the chickens grow properly, and by how many eggs the grown hens lay. This is when the chickens eat nothing else, just the feed plus water (like commercial chickens in cages).

People argue back and forth about what is "best" for the chickens, and a lot depends on what you mean by "best." Some people report nicer looking feathers, or better hatchability of eggs, or various other measures of "better" with higher protein levels, but not everyone has that experience.

Depends on the type of bird.
