Strange Egg Whites

For the past several weeks my Buff Orpingtons are laying eggs with thick cloudy whites. I need to know what causes this and are they ok to eat. All advice will be most welcome.

Are they a lot different than your other birds eggs?
Can you post a pic of the Orp egg next to another egg for comparison?
Was the change sudden...are they new layers?
