One of our three hens (1-Brahma, 1-Buff Orpington, 1-Red Sexlink) has been laying strang eggs sice they started laying this spring. We are in Dallas, so they started laying for the spring in Feb/March, I think.
The strange eggs look longer, have blotchy coloring and always have a flat softer spot on one side. The one today looks kinda wrinkled on the soft spot but the soft area is sometimes smoother than this. The pic has one typical for reference.
The girls are 3 years 1 month old. We feed Purina Organic Layer Pellets, give meal worm/crickets as treats and we let them free range on about an acre a few hours per day. They all seem to be healthy; poops look normal, no sneezing or anything around eyes, nose or on waddles or combs. Any ideas what might be going on?
