I have a red sexlink chicken we got from a friend's egg hatching project (just assuming on the type of hen). She's about 5 months old and just started laying. I've recently noticed some weird feathers on her tail end - they seem sort of frizzy.
She did get some feathers pulled off of that area by a foster dog we had but it didn't seem to injure her though these odd feathers are in the same area - could be coincidence or maybe the feathers that didn't get pulled out got damaged and are showing it now.
No roosters, eats a balanced feed and free ranges so a good diet. Recently wormed.
    Any ideas?

My vote is on coincidence. She isn't like the sex links I'm used to seeing with white on the feathers of a red sex link rather than black, but that may not have anything to do with it. Maybe a genetic twist?
