My two week old chick has a strange growth on its chest. Its under the skin and it is not hard but squishy. Any ideas as to what it could be? I don't think that I can get a good enough picture of it, but I will try.
If it's on her right side, it's a full crop, they go up and down, BUT, if it keep getting bigger and bigger and harder, then it's an impacted crop. If it get's bigger and bigger but stay soft like a water balloon then it cold be a sour crop.
Since it is a young chick I am assuming it is inside eating starter and such. With hold feed overnight and if it is not gone, then worry about "fixing it".
I've had one that's had an impacted crop off and on since she was 3 weeks old, she's 7 months old now and it's gotten worse over time. I've tried everything to get it to a reasonable size, it was so big it was dragging the ground. I think I'm going to have to process her unfortuneatley.
