We have just discovered these awful lumps on the underside of our white sussex chicken. She doesn't seem to be bothered by them but we have no idea what to do!. Her behaviour is normal

It makes perfect sense. I think your hen has what's called a "breast blister".It is below the breast area but above the hock area if that makes sense.
Thank you
Try to get the pus out. It might just pot out like a pimple. That would make sense as the Sussex are quite heavy large birds. We have had alot of rain the last few months and we have tried to keep the area as dry as possible but mother nature has certainly tested us. Thank you
If she were mine I would get the pus out and flush the area, then figure out how to wrap it.Im worried about exposing the flesh to the dirt and getting an infection in the poor girl. Would bathing it in salt water regularly help do you think? or not strong enough
