The only way they could have been fertile is if they'd been in her since about November. We don't have a rooster. I guess she had been blocked up for some time. If she the term "Internal layer" means just that, she may have never laid an egg.she was only about 16 months old.,she never seemed "right" to us since we got her and we don't really know if she ever produced any eggs or not(we have 10 hens and only get 4 or 5 eggs a day this time of year. so, which 4 or 5 did they come from?)
It was tough to see her suffering like that,but at least if it happens to another one someday,We'll know there isn't anything that can be done and not let her suffer.
