Just went out for evening egg check and heard an odd noise one of my younger pullets who has been laying for the last month or so is making a strange noise she can’t seem to stop.
Could she have been injured during a mating attempt? Is there anything I can do to help her? She has clearly been mated sometime today, wasn’t having this problem earlier at egg checks but it’s been about 5 hours since I was last out there due to a rainstorm

Just checking her thouroughy now she’s sort of twitching her bottom and I almost hear a popping or clicking as well, she one of the wild ones of course not seeing anything obvious

Could she be trying to pass an egg down her channel that is bigger than her normal?

Hi Kris. That sounds like stridor, a sound that is produced when they have something in their airway partially onstructing it. That might be a mucus plug they need to cough up, a small particle of feed, or swelling in the airway when one might have with a respiratory infection—think croup in children. Unless this is accompanied with occasional sneezing, this tends to go away in a few hours or overnight. My hen used to do this when she ate too fast. I would offer her some water, and hopefully, it will go away. Here is a video of another chicken with stridor, and she doesn’t seem to be in any distress:

Have you checked under her wing's or the area where a rooster's spur could hurt her at?

mine is distressed but I’m not sure how much of that is do to me scooping her up she did have a faster breathing pattern when I found her

When I was checking her over I notice gentle pressure near her crop seemed to help her is there anything I can do for her or what are your recommendations? Put her back with her flock to reduce stress? I now have a level 3 meal worm and beetle situation in my living room to accompany her, I was going to see if she would take food... now beetles everywhere

I have heard clicking with breathing in a chick with a leaking air sac from a bumb to the chest. If you are handling her again, I would feel for any poofy spots of air under the skin. It is called subcutaneous emphysema. It can be deflated with a syringe and 18 gauge needle. But she may just be excited. Hopefully, it is nothing serious. Here is some reading about that:

If you find no puffy areas that might be air, I would put her back with the flock.
