Aunt Bertha called her Annie Bert
Aunt Frances called her Aunt Tankie and my Uncle called her Frank

My great-grandmother's name was Thorma, pronounced Torma. She went by Stormy. Even had it on her license plate. Granted the woman should not have had a car. She was legally blind and could only make out shadows.

She had more of a social life than I did. At 92 she was never home, always out with friends doing something. I miss her!!!

When I lived in Missouri I was amazed at some of the, err "odd" names. Idella, Earline, Ovill, Lula, Obi, Obvart, Wimer, Marvella. To this day when I read the obits, I can usually tell if the person was originally from Missouri by the unusual first names.
