STRANGE or FUNNY NAMES

My mom went to school with a Scott Scott Scott.
Her dad's name was N.Z. Had to pick a name for the navy. They gave him Norman.
Her grandpa's name was Andrew Jackson R. nicknamed "uncle pete" even by grandkids.
My name is Diana Ross. thanks hubby
My cousin named her sons Magnus and Severin.

I named my DD DevronErin Lynne, and should have named my DS Hawthorn. If I had another DD her name would have been Skara Brae, it's a place in Scotland. My mothers name is Nada Lynne, as a girl both names were used together as one name. Her father was Alva Eugene, and so is her brother. Grandpa's name was pronounced Alvi, and my uncle goes by Gene. I had an Great-Aunt Tooties. I was told that I had a great aunt named Valley Manilla,(I always thought that one was way cool.) but they called her Dotty. On my dads side his grandpa was Daniel Emil, and he went by Emil. And there was a Great-Uncle Haakon. There's a few more but at the moment I am not able to recall them.

Sorry, but at this early in the morning, it make me really laugh out loud. I hope I didn't wake anyone!

My husband gave me a pretty bad last name. I did ask if he wanted to switch and keep my maiden last name.

I remember I went to school with a girl named Dustin.

Well, I feel better. My mom's only had maiden plus four, and is now back to maiden.

Mom and Granny were both Deloris... both hate it... Gran went by Dee, Mom goes by her middle.

Mem's name is actually Flora Virginia, but everyone called her Dinky... she sure was a tiny little thing. Especially when standing next to her 6' daughter (Gran).
Great Gran on the other side is Sula Opal... she married OJ, that is Orby James. Of course they were born in 1914, so not that weird. Mem's in 1921.

Mine's way too common. In 6th grade band, in our 15k population town, there were 12 who played the flute. Five of us had the same name.
Between that and all the instances of "me" being on Jerry Springer... really, what the hello was mom thinking.
Though story goes that it could have been Star instead.

Can someone born in '62 be considered a hippie?

Sounds like a play on words from the lord of the rings books.

Eowyn is from LOTR, however Siddalee is not. My daughter's name is Arwen, which is also from LOTR.

My aunt/godmother was named Vernis, which I always thought was an unusual name. My own first name is fairly unusual. It's Jerrilynn, and is pronounced like Marilyn or Carolyn but starts with a J (it is not pronounced "Jerri Lynn", the way it looks, though I was named after my father, Jerry, and my cousin, Lynn).

My Grandmother (mom's side) was named Alma Mack.
My parents almost named me Malai ( Gaelic spelling, pronounced Molly) but were worried people would pronounce it Mall-ie. Luckily they did not but I think I would have liked to have ben named that instead of my more common one.
My sister in law whose last name was Wales (spelled"like the country") was asked that when she married my brother (last name Rollo-like those little chocolate carmel candies but with two 'L''s) if she was going to hypenate her name. Her reply: "Heck no! I dont want my kids to be known as the Rolling-Whales!

Oh I forgot about Uncle's Ex...

Adults Aaron and Wendy had two sons Stormy and Skylar... then she moved on and had Hailey and Breezie.
Then guess she got on a Yankee kick because her next two girls were named Brooklyn and Madison.

Funny or strange names huh?

One place I worked the Foreman was named Richard Head, his crew would always page him by the nickname for "Richard" Head.

My grandfather was named "Asa", other ancestor names were Katura, Rael, and a host of biblical names.
