I don't even know if a peafowl is also a peacock..please forgive me if I'm wrong! Anyway, this peacock just appears out of nowhere. Male I'm assuming since he's quite colorful. He is chasing my (full grown male) turkey ALL OVER the pen, the yard..driveway. The turkey usually doesn't get too close to me but now if I go in the pen he hides behind my legs. I feel terrible and have no idea what to do!

If it were me, I would try to scare the peacock away, hmm...You could try to chase him as well and show him he isn't welcome...Is he afraid if you throw some small things at him ?
Though I wouldn't hurt it, unless it is really your last resort. Well but that's me, I personally wouldn't hurt it if it can be avoided.
Maybe there exist some kind of repellent thing (or whatever the spelling), that you could use to make him leave the place, but that I wouldn't know about, hopefully someone who knows if this exists or not, or have an other, better solution, leaves a message.

I haven't ever tried it, as I don't have any peacocks near me, but I have been told by a few people that if you run fishing line across an area, 6+ feet high (what ever it needs to be to not be in you way) and about 18-24 inches apart, they will not be able to fly in and out and will leave. Would be kind of a pain to set up if you don't have existing posts or something to attach it to but is the only non-leathal detirent I have heard of.

Peacocks and turkeys are the same family. The get the same diseases. They get the same treatments. They do the same thing to get the girls. One other thing. They do NOT get along. The peacock will eventually get bored and move along unless he happens to be young. Young peacocks are like puppies. They like to chase and tease. If their target is a wimp then they will chase even more. But it's really no big deal. Unless it is really a peaHEN and there happens to be a nest nearby it really will get tired of the game.. Of course if you get in the middle of it then it might never give up. Forget about all the ridiculous stuff about chasing it or running fishing line.. Just let it play out..

Well uh..."ridiculous stuff"...Thank you ? I was only trying to suggest a solution that happened to work for me...These birds are intelligent and will understand eventually that they aren't welcome if you show them.

If it were me, I would pen the turkey temporarily. It's breeding season and the peacock is trying to show he is the alpha male. Once you have the turkey penned, work on catching the peacock. A large net works well-if you can get close enough to him. Their are a lot of people who would be willing to take the peacock off your hands if you catch him.

Look in your local lost and found ads, he may of escaped from someone. My one peacock hated my one Tom turkey after the turkey picked a fight with him. The turkey would walk the circle inside my round pen, the peacock the outside. Every once In awhile they would flog, then go back to chasing each other through the round pen coral. Funny, as either could ship through easily. After that the peacock would hunt down only that turkey Tom and chase him..... He never forgave him. :D

There is one more thing. Is the peacock actually chasing or is he displaying. That means he is fanning his tail and rattling his feathers. If so he is probably trying to get the turkey so say OKAY LET'S DO IT!!
