This may or may not be the right place to post this -- I don't know how serious it is.

To start off - we're having a heat wave. It got to 110º F on my front porch today. The girls are really thirsty and I've been keep plenty of fresh water out for them.

But today one of my 34 week old roos began making a strange wheezing sound when he breaths. I don't know if it is weather related or something else. I've got the shutters open in their coop of course and there is plenty of ventilation -- but the ventilation is of 100º + air during the day. My hens are not doing it and my other roos are not doing it.

I'm a little concerned because folks around me are losing chickens (meat birds though) from heat stroke.

Any thoughts? I know y'all are not vets, but any advice would be welcome.

Be concerned. Watch this rooster carefully. Consider bringing him inside for the evening/night.

I'll see if I can "catch" him without adding too much stress to his already hectic life.

For those following or concerned about Brewster the Rooster, he made it through the night and seems to be breathing normally this morning.

We will remain under a heat advisory for several more weeks. About all I can do is make sure they have plenty of water and can find some shade.

I have a 4 year old rooster who wheezes on a regular basis. He is perfecty fine otherwise. At first I tried everything, nothing helped, then it got better on it's own. It is sporadic and occurres at different times of the year. Just keep an eye on your roo and use your judgement. Chickens are full of mysteries....
