Strange Tracks in Pen *Logical Conclusion on Page 46*

i actually have not seen those marks in a while. i notice i tend to not see them when it's rainy. Yesterday was nice, but today we have another big storm coming in. Don't snakes hibernate in cold weather?

i knew we had a skunk living in the area. Would smell his perfume sometimes early evening or morning. Late one night, several months back, i woke to see all my cats lined up at the sliding door in our bedroom. Looked out and saw Stinky hippity hopping all around the backyard. But i don't think he can get in the pens, or at least he hasn't tried yet.

And then, this game camera only took 17 pictures last night. Going to call the company today to see if they can help with its reduced efficiency. And i know i keep threatening, but really am going to open that other cam i got from Walmart and set that up, too. It got really good reviews so have high hopes of catching what else is waltzing by in the evening.

I used to live across the river from you in Gold River!

I'm enjoying this thread as well. I think the game cam is a great idea, wonder if they are still $50 at Walmart???

I tend to think it may be a toad, we have several up here in Pilot Hill that are HUGE. They do leave a long mark when they 'walk' but I would think you'd also the the other feet marks.....

Maybe the rat is chasing the mystery critter off? What is that rat doing all night? With all the back and forth?

I'll be watching!!!

Yeah but in the last picture an hour later the rocks are still in the same spot.

I was kidding. But maybe Fluffy is like me and ends up putting stuff back in the same place when he rearranges his house?

OK, I guess I don't understand bumping. Am I doing it now and why is it a bad thing? Now I'm going to be afraid to post.

looptloop, yes, the game cam is still $50 at Walmart with 97 cents shipping. Here is the link:

But when i got too impatient waiting for that to be delivered, i bought the Wildview Infrared Xtreme camera, with video recorder, at the local hunting store. i actually haven't even tried the video function yet, hum. After i bought it, i read reviews and they were mostly bad. Most complaints were what i am now experiencing, that it works well the first couple of times, then you can ballroom dance in front of it without it taking a picture.

i haven't seen toads here, but there is a lot of overgrowth around the perimeter of our yard. Growing up in South Sac, we had a huge toad living under the air conditioner compressor. Every so often, when our Mom sprayed water to clean underneath, he would come lumbering out. We would catch him, pick him up, and he would pee all over us.

You aren't bumping if you're commenting on a thread. Don't be afraid to post. The moderators will let you know if you do anything that isn't allowed. Bumping is usually done by the person who originally posts a comment. If they don't get a response right away, they may keep posting with comments like "no one has an answer?" or "anyone?", or sometimes they will even write "bump". The problem with bumping is that it pushes that thread to the top of the heap. Many times people will just click on "Recent Posts" and if someone hasn't gotten a response on their question or comment thread, their thread gets pushed to page 2 or 3 and others may not read far enough to get to it. i hope i'm explaining this correctly. You'll know a bump when you see it. If not, feel free to ask a moderator. They are there to help.

And about Fluffy, he just may be a neat freak and wants to keep his pen tidy and rocks in the same place.

Dang now I want a camera!!!

How do they work, on batteries? Do you just plug the batteries in and go stake it out somewhere in your yard? Man I want one! And THAT'S affordable for me!

Does that particular one work well?

Thanks Enchanted, that was a completely understandable explanation. Now I get it! And now I ALSO want a game cam!! I'm a big eBayer, so I'll check to see what I can find there before I go to Walmart. YIPEEEE! I think I'm also going to put a baby monitor in the coop so I can keep watch over the chicks from in the house. I hope it works that far. My coop is only about 40-50 ft. from my back deck, so it should. I find it so interesting to see what is creeping around in the dark at night!

i haven't used the $50 Walmart one yet, but it got great reviews, waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the more expensive one i've been using. You use 4 C batteries. Set the date and time, and put it outside. i think they're rainproof. But i'm using mine in a dry pen.
