Has anyone's girls ever layed an egg while sitting on the roost, possibly at night?

All the time for new layers or if they don't have proper nesting areas.

ETA:Sometimes it can also just kind of be an accident as well..

I have had two "aerial layers". Both times, it turned out they were scared of the other hens and wouldn't get in the boxes because of it. Once I separated them they used the box.

Mine did that a few times, I put a light on a timer to get them up earlier. It seems to do the trick.

I have found a couple on the roost also.
They have just started laying this week and I thought maybe they just haven't figured it out yet.
Some go in the boxes and some don't but I guess they will in time.
