it was scary, I can feel your caring sense of urgency in this comment. Right now we don't know the reason, and (since text cannot convey emotion, which is a big weakness of the forums in spite of their wonderfulness) as gently as I can say it, there was nothing in our correspondence to lead me to believe the OP felt it was okay.

Sometimes there are situations members don't feel at liberty to share in detail. It may be that they were mistaken, or it may be a family member (possibly also on the forum) muffed it when they were supposed to be helping out.

I agree we want to state clearly that ducks really need access to fresh clean water. I like to provide it to my flock 24/7, and some withhold water at night for eight hours or so due to infrastructure constraints, and that falls within the spectrum of good management, at least according to Storey's Guide.

If anyone knows a little more detail about helping ducks who have similar difficulties in the future so we will all be better prepared for a quick appropriate response, please join in.

this is the bird whisperrs mother. Thank you all for helping him with his ducks, he loves his birds very much, and is feeling slightly embarrassed right now with his mess up on words(as he is just a kid). His ducks and chickens, and his love bird have never gone days without food or water. It is difficult to fully grasp when writing on a forum someones intent or not, that's why the best way to find out something is to ask questions and never make assumptions.

I think that is one of the worst things about the "information age" and our current way of communicating. It is far too easy to misconstrue someone's meaning when it is not spoken. It is also too easy to add "tone" to someone else's words.

Tell him not to be embarrassed. These things happen. It is great that you have raised him to be so concerned for the animals in his care.

Thank goodness. I just could not think why they did not have water for that long.

So happy they are OK and you are taking great care of your ducks - glad you took the time to ask people here for advise and I can see you clearly care about you birds.
