Straub’s search for colored eggs

Pics
I know a lot of people say duck eggs are better for baking so I figured a restaurant might want to snatch them up. I had the opportunity to get several ducklings from a friend who incubated a clutch only to find out that two of his duck hens were hiding on nests. I would have liked to but there is a pond directly across the highway from my house so I was afraid they would get killed on the road trying to get to that pond. Even if I built them a pool it wouldn’t be enough to satisfy them.
Yes that would be tricky..when the cornfield floods in spots they bee-line for every water hole here. Luckily it's just a cornfield and there's no harm but still venturing off the property is not ideal especially straying out in the open.

Those lightest blue and green eggs are from my original olive eggers. I bought 4 day old chicks from Rual King 3 lay light blue/green 1 lays tan. The one olive green egg in that picture is from the daughter of one of the light green eggs and my BCM rooster. My white egg layer is an EE. So you don’t always get what the label says.
That is true I had a pink egg layer from the hatchery that was an EE!

Snow White, my Light Brahama chose to sleep in a nesting box tonight. I have not noticed any broody behavior from her prior to this. I’ll be keeping an eye on her now. I don’t need chicks in mid January.

The Brahama only spent that one night in the nest box and returned to the roost the next night. She is still laying daily so I guess the broody scare resolved itself. Egg production has been very high getting about 14-18 eggs a day. Both of the Marans are still on winter strike but I believe everyone else is paying rent. Attached is a picture of today’s egg collection
