Straub’s search for colored eggs

I’m afraid your admiration may be misplaced I’m generally very unorganized.

I have been very excited to watch these Bresse grow out. They feel more meaty than my other breeds of chickens.

Thanks for pointing out my copy/paste error on the spreadsheet. It has been corrected. I’m using the numbers spreadsheet that comes along free on iPhone. I’m sure it’s capable of doing a lot more than I’m using it for but I’m fumbling my way through it.
You’re a lot braver than I am! Can’t imagine even being able to read the data on a spreadsheet on my phone screen.

Egg production has slowed down this time of year so I have changed to only collecting once a day. I guess Jersey Gena just couldn’t take looking at a pile of egg not being incubated and decided to go broody again. She’s going to broody jail tomorrow. We’re already over capacity going into winter.

The Breese flock finally went up to roost tonight. They had been sleeping in a pile. The past several nights I have been moving them to the roost so they aren’t sleeping in their own manure. Tonight I finally won the battle and they did it themselves.

I haven’t posted an egg picture in a while. Today was a real slow egg day. Most of the hens are starting to molt and have slowed way down on laying. Some of the spring pullets are coming into lay. So far 2 of the three pullets did get the green egg gene and lay really nice olive eggs. Still waiting on one more pullet to show me what she’s got.

Those are the prettiest green eggs I've seen.I don't have any olive eggers or green eggers but I have chicks that should lay both

Thanks, my first round of olive Eggers were a bit disappointing because they laid light green. I was still super excited about getting any eggs at all but I paid extra for olive Eggers and they laid the same color as the less expensive Easter Eggers. I put a Marans rooster over them and the daughters are laying the colors I was hoping for. Good luck with your pullets I hope they lay good colors for you.
