Straw/Hay For Chickens - Possibly sprayed With Toxins?

I was told by my feed store owner that GM Alfalfa really didn't catch on at least around here. Take that with a grain of salt! I have recently started buying organic flour & oatmeal for myself, because some farmers supposedly spray round up before harvest to evenly desiccate the crops for harvesting. This is not widespread according to some, so who knows what "straw" has been sprayed with. You have to pick your battles.

If you are extremely concerned about herbicides and stuff used in agriculture, buy organic hay or straw only. It's available if you search, although more expensive, because it's more expensive to produce. You can decide if the products used on organic fields bother you, but that's the choice.
I use the bagged shavings in my coop and run, and some (non-organic) hay in the nest boxes. My flock is not fed organic only feed because of the cost, and we don't only eat organically produced food exclusively either. It's a personal decision. Mary
