Straw in the run? Need advice

Sand can get hot or too cold, mixing it with other materials like pine shavings or nuggets will help, in my case the run is shaded after 1 pm and have 4 trees protecting the area from intense exposure, straw didn’t cut it for me the run stank when it got wet.

I like your coop. I'm all by myself and not able to do something like this on my own, so I'm going easy but secure. Down the road I would love to have something like this. I'll get it together piece by piece..lol
