Straw in the run now or wait?

Really? I've had lots of say not to use hay. So many choices! I even considered sand in the uncovered run.

I'd say try the straw since you already have it, but keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't become moldy or waterlogged. Maybe it'll work in your set up. It's difficult to say what the optimal material(s) are because everyone's set ups are different, climates are different, chicken load, your clean up schedule, etc... so sometimes the best thing you can do is try something out, and change it if it becomes clear it's not working as you intended.

Hear, Hear!!^^^

I put straw just in the covered run and glad I did so far. My girls love it. They've been kicking it about and enjoy laying in it. This morning when I opened the extended run, they were all huddled in the straw. Normal they come right out to see if I have treats, but they didnt move. Probably could tell I didn't have anything for them at the moment. They got a fresh cabbage last night though. Lol
