Has anyone observed roosters tossing straw, sticks etc as a threat gesture?

Only when they can't get to the rooster on the other side of the fence

I've seen my Barred Rock roo "fuss" with small pieces of twigs, etc. He'll pick something up, worry it around in his beak, then either drop it or sort of toss it aside - if it's not deemed worthy of going down the hatch. He's a busy creature - always plotting

; ever watchful; constantly observant for possible threats, i.e., everything is a potential threat. He does obsessive things. For all of the "work" he does minding his hens & the rest of his environment, I know he sleeps like a rock when he's on the roost, safe, and all's well.
