Strange day today. While working at the hospital, my hubby was asked to help catch the chicken that was running around. The parking lot. Miles from any homes. He took the poor thing home and put her in quarentine. She laid a very thin egg, drank lots of water and food. What do ya'll think is wrong with her?

Some hatcheries clip the beaks of birds that are destined for egg production facilities. This is what was done to her. The head and back feather damage looks as if it was the result of overmating but may have resulted from pecking in a cage type egg plant. She may very well have been on her way to be turned into soup when she somehow escaped. Good on you for saving her.
