So our rooster passed away last night then tonight this stray hen shows up at my house. We have no neighbors so no idea where she came from. We currently have her separated but in view of our flock. Any guesses to breed? What do I need to do before integrating her with my flock? Should I treat for anything? If so, how? How long should I keep her separate? When I picked her up she threw up a little water but I think that was from me maybe pushing on her crop a little bit. She has 20% feed and water with a little ACV.

Looks like a New Hampshire Red. Quarantine for 30 days then add to your flock if no signs of sickness.

Is it ok to have the pen she’s in, in the same run with my current flock?

That's not really quarantined if she is only seperated by a cage wall. She should be as far from them as possible.

Stray hen laid an egg!! I was completely surprised because I know they usually don’t lay under stress or in new environments. Should it be safe to eat or should I trash it?

If the egg was already partly formed, then she'd lay that one. I think it's common for a hen to lay the first day at a new place, then maybe take some days off.

I assume the egg would be safe to eat--why not?

The only thing I know of that calls for throwing away eggs would be certain medicines being fed to the hen, and people who care enough to give the chicken medicine would probably not let it wander away to your place.
