Stray chicken. She's a beauty! Need opinions.

If you want to try and catch her probably the easiest way fir you and her is a live trap. Like the ones hav a heart makes. I had a silver duckwing bantam hen get out her hutch once and I tried for a solid week to catch her with the net and it just wasn't working. Lol. Two days of setting my live trap I had her! Little bit of feed and bread done the trick!! Good luck to you and keep us posted!! :)

Haha I was thinking the same thing! She's too flighty to let me too near. I wonder if she'll ever be truly tamed but I hate the thought of something getting her. And once I catch her, there will be the issue of getting her used to me other 9 babies (about 6 weeks old).

If it was me I'd catch her and keep her penned up for a while to get her use to me and allow my other chickens to get close to her pen just not have contact with her. She may would be grateful to meet another chicken!! It will be a Slow process but worth it in the end! Game chickens are very smart and tend to avoid predators better than other chickens do so I wouldn't worry much about something getting her.

A trick my dad did years ago was a box some food a stick and a string. That one takes time and patients on your part but if you have time to sit there for a few hours it works. But a live trap and quarentine time, should be just fine and then a divided coop so everyone can see and semi interact. Good luck and keep us posted.

The easiest way I have found to catch a chicken. You have to feed them through food on the ground and only move away a few feet. Allow them to eat with out being molested. After a few times they will not mind your being there.
Now the hard part straighten out a wire coat hanger about 5 inches from the end bend a hook. Leave it open about 2 inches tapering down to nothing. This forms a V. While he is eating gingerly slide it by his foot and you can hook it. The shape of their foot will keep them secured with no harm to the bird. There are two things to remember 1 QUICKLY GRAB THE BIRD OR HE WILL GET AWAY 2 THEY MAY BE DUMB BUT YOU ONLY GET TO TRY THIS ONCE AND THEY ARE ON TO YOU!
GOOD LUCK Rich

She's got grey/olive coloring on the fronts of her legs. She almost came up onto the carport with us today. She pecked around for a few minutes while I clucked to her. Fiance also have her some bread. Maybe she's getting accustomed to us! Yay!
