Stray chicken. She's a beauty! Need opinions.

Dixie, this is where it starts. These little guys are 2 days old and I am teaching them to drink. Next stage is to dip your wet finger in the chick starter and have them feeding from your hand. They then associate the hand with positive enthusiasm .

Aww they're so cute!! Do you hatch them out in an incubator? I bought mine mealworms and they like them a LOT. But lately they seem skittish. Except for two, gretel jr and pepper, they like to have their chests rubbed. Wonder what else I need to do. Take them out and play with them? Hmmm

I just got this shot. Gretel with her teenagers. They always take a break from the woods to come get crumbles! Haha
Gretel is looking rough with her molting!

I have raised chicks twice in my chicken keeping experience. The first time i hatched them and they were so nice. The second time, I bought them 2 and a half weeks old. Never doing that again. They never ever got used to/liked being held to this day.

The brooder chicks rely on you for everything, so it's only natural for them to bond to you. It's nice to see them with their momma , doing what comes naturally. But it's nice to be greeted by them when you enter their pen.
