Stray Rooster- Advice please!

A friend found a stray rooster and hen and brought them to me for refuge. The hen seems healthy other than some missing tail feathers. The rooster however is a little rough looking. Tail feathers missing and some side feathers missing. Some black on his comb. He's been through something for sure.He's small and looks frizzle to me (?) any ideas what breed he could be? Also...I've never had a rooster and I'm not sure what I need to do now or be aware of. He seems very docile so far. Maybe he's just traumatized I don't know...id love to see him get healthy and be able to keep him but not at the risk of him attacking my kids or bringing disease to my hens.

If you want to keep them (I'm assuming they have been together) quarantine them together for a month before introducing them to your chickens. That should also give you an idea of his personality.
The comb could be the result of frostbite over the winter.
I have zero tolerance for human aggression in roosters. As a child the only problematic roosters were the white leghorns (Still don't care for that breed to this day.)
Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had a mean bantam rooster and I have had adult roosters I would trust with anyone, but I did keep my eye on them before I made an assessment.

He's got feathered legs, so he's probably a Cochin mix. They have a reputation as being fairly docile. Those legs look like he's got scaly leg mites though.

He appears to be a poorly kept bantam cochin frizzle, or mix of, his feet and legs should have more feathers on them. I would keep him quarantined for a bit. 99% of my frizzled bantam cochins are just nice little rooster, you won't know until he gets comfortable and used to his new home, but I think he will be okay, they are one of the more mellow of rooster. He does look like wherever he was it was rough going, the black is just scabs, probably from being pecked.
