A stray rooster is integrating into my flock!! I have 11 chickens, one Rooster and now a stray has started coming into our flock. We found him sleeping in the same tree with our flock last night , while my Rooster slept in the front yard in the Creap Mrytel tree alone ! !
We have chased, thrown rocks and waved sticks at the stray but he keeps coming back and some of our flock is hanging around him instead of the rooster they have been raised with.. what should we do?

If you don't want him there your options would be to kill him (eating him is optional:plbb), trapping him and selling him, or trapping him and dropping him off away from your house. Although, I'm not to sure how to trap a stray rooster (does he let you touch him?)

Don't take the rooster for a ride and throw him out, that's awful for the rooster and you could give someone else the same problem you have. To catch him find where he roosts and put a long pole under him poke until he's forced to step on the pole then lower him down to you. Then you can do whatever you choose to do with him

Yes I like our Rooster he is young so he hasn't quite figured out what he is suppose to do. So the stray is bullying him. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help..I like the idea of keeping him , I just don't know where we would put him . And keep him awY from our flock . He is pretty I'll try to find out how to send a picture .

Good luck, and be careful catching that rooster if the ladies are following him he is obviously old enough to know the ropes and probably means spurs. If you do the pole thing at night he shouldn't resist too much still be cautious though.

If he's integrating he'll be easier to catch!

If he's a good boy with your girls and people someone may want him for their own flock.

For me, good roosters are hard to come by so I hoard and keep all the ones I run across. But I understand that's not an option for everyone.

And he could also be the devil in feathers which is why someone may have dropped him off.

If he is a good boy, I bet if you post something online (Facebook, Craigslist) that's funny and charming about him you can find him a good home pretty quick.
