Aww.... So sweet! 🄰

Ah that's great! And don't worry about your hens behavior changing too much. It may not change towards you at all. Most of my hens are very tame and some even sit on my lap, several at the same time vying for the best spot. My roosters do not mind at all and will also join in and perch on my leg. I feel like snow white🄰 Granted they were hand raised and now going on 5 years old. They spent the first 2 years in a bachelor pen next to the ladies until we decided to let the 2 remaining roos in with the ladies.

I am glad Ralphie is settling in and the ladies are accepting him.

Aw so sweet. I want to be Snow White! šŸ˜‚
Is that your head hen next to him?
No an RIR is head hen but a barred is a close second. I couldn’t tell by the butt who this was.
Also, how do we rate his manners when sharing a plate of snacks?

I was wondering if the gals would change šŸ˜” They always come running to me so happily. He has been keeping quite the distance from me but just now he hesitantly ate from my hand! Hope he stays docile.
I’ve had roosters with my flock the majority of my 11 years of chicken keeping, and the hens always came running when they saw me, rooster and all. They would all hang out with me when I sat in the pen too.

I think it looks like he's trying to be a gentleman! You can see him picking a few things out of the dish and putting them on the ground and making his tidbitting sound!

Oh that’s great! I hope for that too. Thanks!

Oh yay! So other than his morning mating assaults he’s a gentleman so far! šŸ˜‚šŸ„° Thanks!

Good morning , how did the rest of the weekend go for your new baby :)
Good morning! It’s really going well to my surprise! The mornings are a bit frantic since this seems to be when he wants to mate. The gals aren’t to keen on that part yet so they tend to stay in the coop longer than normal. But it eases up and they do great all through the day. Thanks for asking!
